Three years deep. Product Designer at turtil. Designing the boring middle that makes products feel effortless.
// INTRO
I came to design the long way around.
I was halfway through a mechanical engineering degree before it started feeling like the path didn't fit me. The reason I'd picked engineering in the first place was to solve real-world problems, but that itch didn't go away. I tried a few things. Coded for a couple of weeks, looked at some other careers, but kept coming back to drawing, which I'd been doing since I was a kid.
There's a glitter factor to designing things. The thrill of making something exist. That part stuck.
I started picking up UI, UX, product design, and quickly figured out the field is much more than the visuals. It turned out to be the intersection I didn't know I was looking for. I could make things and solve real problems at the same time.
I practiced for a while, made messy work, kept going. Eventually found a role at turtil. Three years later, I'm still here, and most days it still feels like the right corner to be standing in.
